Camillo Donati -Malvasia dell'Emilia Frizzante
The Malvasia di Candia is historically from Crete, arriving in this part of Italy many centuries ago, and it is also one of the oldest known grapes. Up until 30-50 years ago, it was only vinified in sweet and demi-sec style, but Camilo Donati now makes both a dry and sweet Malvasia.
This Malvasia frizzante is not the traditional sweet or semi-sweet wine. This is dry, refreshing, with perfumed aromas typical of this grape varietal and notes of stone fruits (peach, apricot) but also citrus with a touch of spices. The bubbles are fine but persistent, there is a bit of skin contact which adds some incredible texture. Unfined, unfiltered and to be served chilled.
Pairs well with fried and spicy food, pizza or as an aperitif.
Region: Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Grape: Malvasia di Candia
Vintage: 2023
