Domaine Grand Arbois Savagnin - ‘En Guille-Bouton’ Jura 2023
Importer’s notes: Nestled in the Jura, Domaine Grand is a story of family, passion, and an unwavering commitment to the land. The Domaine officially took shape in 1970, when André Grand and his brothers expanded the family vineyards to 25 hectares, fully dedicating themselves to viticulture—building on the foundation laid by their father, René Grand. This set the stage for the next generation to carry the domaine forward. In 2011, Emmanuel Grand (André’s son) and Nathalie Morin took the reins, bringing a new vision to the estate. With deep roots in Jura wine—Emmanuel continuing his family’s legacy and Nathalie coming from a line of winemakers in Arbois—they sought to refine the domaine’s focus. By 2015, they had carefully selected the finest 11 hectares to farm organically, prioritizing sustainability, precision, and the purest expression of their terroir.
Rooted in Jura since 1692, Domaine Grand blends generations of tradition with a bold, organic vision for the future.
Domaine Grand Arbois Savagnin ‘En Guille Bouton’ is a deeply personal cuvée, sourced from a plot planted 25 years ago by Nathalie and her family—a vineyard she never imagined she would one day craft into wine with her husband. These massale selection vines thrive in gray marl soils, producing a wine of striking complexity and character. Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo a gentle two-hour press before fermentation begins in stainless steel. About halfway through, the wine is transferred to old 350L barrels to complete fermentation and mature for 12 months. The ouillé (topped-up) aging process preserves freshness while avoiding oxidation. Only a touch of sulfur is used at all (after destemming), with no fining, and a light plate filtration to ensure clarity without compromising texture.
This Savagnin is spicy, savory, and deeply mineral, carrying an almost cheesy and herbal flare that lingers on the palate. The texture is layered and profound, with an incredibly long, saline finish that captures the Jura’s terroir-driven essence.
Pair it with scallops, smoked salmon, Asian dishes and Gruyère cheese.
Region: Jura (Arbois), France
Grape: 100% Savagnin (selection massale)
Vintage: 2023
