Drood Winery - Irdabama Samarghandi
One of the few Persian wines in existence, made naturally from some of the world’s highest vineyards (2300m) in the Zagros Mountains in south-west Iran by winemaker Sharam Soltani, but crafted in Gemla, Sweden, who continues the tradition of only using indigenous grapes varieties that have been growing in this region for millennia. This is a very special wine and very limited.
Winemaking has been a big part of Persian culture for over 8,000 years. This winemaker takes pride in being able to continue making wine from Persian grapes from his homeland in Sweden.
This wine offers expressive and bright with red cherry, raspberry and strawberry notes with hints of licorice, cassis and an intriguing complexity and depth, with a soft lingering finish. Every sip is nothing but a testament to a history that goes back so many years.
Pair it with vegetarian dishes, cured meats, and really versatile to accompany different dishes.
