Cantina Giardino - Glu Glu 2024
Antonio and Daniela De Gruttola seek out old vineyards in Irpinia, high in the hills of Campania, championing and preserving the region’s native varieties, old vines and the old-fashioned way of tending them.
They began in 2003 and in Italy they were amongst a handful of pioneers who paved the way for the making of wines with no additions, inspiring many to adopt an approach in the cantina that produces wines with a true sense of place.
From ninety year old vines planted some five hundred meters above sea level in their Gaia vineyard. These grapes were harvested a little earlier than for that cuvée, fermented on the skins for two days, then pressed to sandstone amphorae until spring. The result is a vibrant wine perfumed with stone fruits, chalk and flowers, and the palate gives notes of apricot, green apples this goes down easy, but offers subtle complexity too.
Pairs well with seafood, chicken and fish-based past dishes of as an aperitif.
Region: Campania, Italy
Grape: Greco
Vintage: 2024
750ml
