L'Archetipo - Susumante Spumante Sparkling 2024

$32.00

L'A rchetipo is located in Castellaneta, at the foot of the Murgia barese, not far from Altamura. Founded by Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto, a farmer from birth, who later also became an agronomist. Already in the 80s he began the conversion of the company to organic agriculture, then moving on, in 2000, to biodynamic practices. A few years later, he was inspired by the non-interventionist practices of Masanobu Fukuoka, or, the "do-nothing method", in which the synergies between all the rings of the ecosystem are triggered, he moved on to synergistic agriculture, for which, among other things, plowing is no longer practiced. He works with his wife Anna Maria and his four children. An evangelist for restorative farming, Dibenedetto seeks symbiosis with the entire ecosystem; from the soil, to the plants, to the insects, animals, and other native bacterium. His unique vine training system comes from Rudolf Steiner’s book, “The philosophy of freedom”, uses a free standing espalier (controspalliera libera in Italian). His approach in the cellar is also minimal, wines are never fined nor filtered, but always with the underlying resolve of highlighting native grapes and terroir. These wines are alive.

The 2024 Susumante, from indigenous Susumaniello grape, is full of intense red fruit with floral aromatics. The bubbles are fresh and persistent. Pale pink on the glass it offers fresh cherries, raspberries, and toasted croissant aromas. The palate is fruity, lively and elegant.

Pairs well with salmon, tuna, sushi and mild cheeses.
