Amatria is born in 2020 as a family project managed by Josu Amatria, oenologist by profession, and Raquel Elizalde, a lawyer. Together, they firmly believed in the quality of this winegrowing region with a main focus in the Garnacha grape which adapts really well to the terroir. This wine comes from a centenary Garnacha vineyard planted in 1962, located on a terrace set into the mountainside, which provides a unique microclimate and terroir. The soils composed of compacted sands with calcareous cement, offering excellent and naturally limit vine vigor, favoring the concentration of aromas and flavors in the grapes.
The grapes were hand-harvested on Sept. 18th to preserve freshness and quality. Fermentation took place partially in French oak barrels (50%), and stainless steel tanks (50%), combining freshness with complexity. The wine is then aged for 6 months in 500-liter French oak barrels gaining structure and elegance without sacrificing vibrancy. Bottled in March 2025.
The result shows off as pale pink color on the glass, captivating its elegance. The intense aromatic complexity reveals the fresh characteristics of the Garnacha with subtle ripe red fruits, white flowers, vibrant citrus hints and a touch of vanilla from barrel aging adding depth and elegance. The palate is fresh, well-balanced with a marked acidity bringing length and liveliness. The fruit notes return with hints of orange peel, adding roundness and volume. The finish is long, refreshing with silky tannins providing structure and persistence. A very elegant Rosé with incredible versatility for food pairing, including Spanish tapas, patatas bravas, and salmon. Limited quantity production.
