ZaZaZa - 'Sausage Fest' - Skin Contact by Štekar

$30.00

Importer’s notes: The Štekar family started with humble beginnings in the Goriška Brda zone of Slovenia back in 1985, when Roman Štekar began the winery alongside a small agriturismo. Today, his son Jure runs this lovely natural winery in the stunning hills of western Slovenia, being at least the 4th generation of winemakers but with family history dating back to the 1700’s.

Where the Alps lean toward the sea, our Skin Contact wine feels like it was born between two breaths. It carries the cool mountain air in one hand and the warm Mediterranean light in the other. This is a meeting of Sivi Pinot, also known as Pinot Grigio, and Rebula, two grapes that move with the same rhythm. One brings texture, spice, and a quiet strength. The other offers bright fruit, wildflowers, and an easy kind of joy.

The wine rests on its skins just long enough to blush a soft orange and gather the slow wisdom of the vineyard. In your glass you will find apricot and ripe pear, dried citrus peel, and the faintest touch of salt drawn from the ancient Opoka marl. There is a gentle grip that holds the flavors together and keeps the music of the wine moving from one sip to the next.

It tastes like sunlight on stone, a walk through an orchard at dusk, and a little adventure waiting at the edge of the glass. A wine that invites you in, then leaves you smiling without quite knowing why.
